Boring old Sunday

I actually spent most of my day doing some academic reading and watching movies. My attention span managed to get through four movies. Usually I struggle massively to get through one. I did think about watching another one, but I had a feeling that might’ve been stretching it. Filling up on tea and I keep finding reasons to tidy up. How I get anything done, truly done, we’ll never know.

Question of the day: Sweets or chocolate?

I love chocolate. But I also love sweets. And I quite like crisps. I really miss egg sandwiches with crisps (I think it is time I treated myself to this again). I have a massive sweet tooth, which causes quite a few problems, but I limit myself to weekends 99% of the time. At the moment it seems to be working out quite well.

Phrase of the day: Aller Anfang ist schwer

This is actually a German proverb, meaning something along the lines of “Every Beginning is difficult.”
I quite like this proverb and have heard it several times growing up. This is especially said, for example, when you’re learning something new and are struggling with it.

Quote of the day

When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be
– Lao Tsu

Today I went to see Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them again. I just really like the music, the way Eddie Redmayne looks and Niffler and the magic. It’s very entertaining and I can’t wait for the other movies. I don’t know why I leave writing so late. I am tired and to be honest, not much exciting has happened today.

The Harry Potter Tag

Inspired by this video, I shall be doing the Harry Potter Tag!

I tried to write out the questions as they appeared in the video, and I have the feeling I missed out a question… Anyhow, lets go.

What is your favourite book?
Harry Potter and the philosophers stone

What is your favourite movie?
Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban

What is your least favourite book?
Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix purely because it took me forever to read.

What is your least favourite movie?
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, purely because I disliked the look of Harry Potter at the beginning of the movie? It’s childish I know but thats the only reason I could spontaneously think off!

What is your Favourite Quote?
“Now if you two don’t mind, I’m going to bed before either of you come up with another clever idea to get us killed – or worse, expelled.” -Hermione Granger

Who is your Favourite Weasley?
Molly Weasley or Ginny Weasley

Who is your favourite (female)character?
One of my most favourite characters is Remus Lupin.

Who is your favourite villain?
Bellatrix. The most obvious answer, but she’s awesome as a villain.

Who is your favourite (male) character?
Another favourite character is Luna Lovegood. And I really love Hermione Granger.

Favourite Professor?
Professor McGonagall, right next to Professor Lupin.

Is there a character you felt differently about in the movies?
Ginny Weasley.

If you could remake any of the movies, which one would it be?
Order of the Phoenix I think, just to include Hermiones’ stand for the House Elves. And any movie after that to include more of Remus/Tonks. And possibly the third one so we can get more info on the Marauders and their importance to the story line?

Which House was your first gut feeling you’d be a part of?
I always wanted to be Griffindor, because of Hermione, but my gut feeling was that it might be Hufflepuff. Turns out I’m a proud Ravenclaw. Blue is also my favourite colour, and I automatically kinda wear it a lot.

Which class would be your favourite?
All of them, honestly. How could I choose just one?? I think I’d love Astronomy, History of Magic, Transfiguration and Study of Ancient Runes.

Which spell do you think is most useful?
Most of them, really. I really love Lumos, to, like, read in bed and stuff.

Which character do you think you’d instantly become friends with?
Luna Lovegood. I’d attach myself to Ginny, too, and Hermione. And Cho Chang.

If you could own one of the three hallows, which one would it be?
The Invisibility Cloak.

Is there any aspects of the books you’d want to change?
I’d love if Ron (+the other Weasleys) swore a lot more. I’d love to have more of a colourful language coming from them, or just more swearing in general, from everybody.

Hallows or Horcruxes?
Both? Both. Definitely both.

Yesterday, I went to see Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them with two friends of mine and I thought it was real good n I can’t wait for the other movies!

Some more videos -Potter related, naturally.

Favourite Harry Potter Videos

Just for fun and because I wanna, here are some of my favourite Harry Potter themed YouTube videos

Tessa Nettling is a must, naturally.

Honestly, this channel is a gift of the heavens and I love it so much it hurts. I love them so much, I added four videos to the list, but honestly. All the videos are amazing.

The two Harry Potter Parodies by The Hillywood show. I couldn’t decide which ones I liked most, so I added the two of them. I always quite like the dancing in their parodies so.

I can’t ever stop watching this one. Honestly, its pure gold.

I am struggling so much with the things going on in my life currently, it is truly amazing how I am still functioning somewhat. Hence, why I am wallowing in Harry Potter videos n stuff, just because it makes me happy.

I also stood outside for five minutes just now and listened to some owls hooting at each other which in itself was an amazing feeling and I haven’t smiled like that in a very long time. It was nice. I love owls.

Harry Potter Book Collection

Obviously, this is not a book, but look how cute he looks!
IMG_0625 copy
This is obviously not a book either, but he’s part of Harry Potter. Just look at the details!
My German Hardcover Harry Potter series.
One of my English Harry potter collections, given to me by a good friend of mine.
My complete english paperback edition of Harry Potter.
Beedle the Bard in English and in German. I really love both editions.

Neither of these I own in German, both editions I owned twice at some point because I forgot I already had them…

One Wizards dictionary, a Harry Potter book calendar and a Friendship-book
One of my uncompleted series editions of Harry Potter, also given to me by a friend.
This is my favourite cover of them all, but the only one I have of this series. I want them all in hardcover, which aren’t cheap.

All of the Philosopher stone editions I own, including the illustrated version

IMG_0648 copy

#2 in the series.
#3, and personal favourite of the series, because of Remus and Sirius.
#4. When rereading this series, this is as far as I can get, then I keep putting off rereading the others.
#5. The one that took me forever to finally get through. I literally spent a whole summer reading this one.
#6. Not gonna lie, pretty sure I cried.
#7. I cried. A lot. I have reread this book the least. In fact, I have only ever read it once. Time to reread it again.

So these are all my Harry Potter books at the moment. I am 100% sure I am going to add books to this collection this year.

Recent Potter hauls

If I could have a perfect Saturday, it would involve going shopping without worrying about money. It would then naturally be followed by spending a whole day at the Harry Potter Studios. Some of the more recent stuff I bought I just have to share with the internet.

FullSizeRender (6)
I found these socks, and I love them. I haven’t worn them yet, they seem too precious to be worn.

On my third visit to the Harry Potter studios, I finally bought Remus Lupins’ wand and the Marauders Map. I keep the map in it’s cover and very often carry the wand around with me. According to Pottermore, my wand is Cedar wood with a Unicorn hair core, 10″ and surprisingly swishy flexibility

The jumper/ sweater, a new t-shirt and the new choker I recently acquired and love so much.

If I feel uncomfortable, unhappy or sad, I wear the t-shirt or the jumper/sweater. I never thought I’d actually feel comfortable wearing a choker, so I’m pleasantly surprised that I am.

After watching a movie at the cinema with my friends in Brighton, we walked past Waterstones and they had a very Harry Potter themed book display in their window which I had to take photos of. And yes, I have pre-ordered the book. I am much excited.

Even though I wanted to buy so much more, this is actually it. For now.

Throw back Thursday

I finally found a reason how I can share my weekly findings with you guys apart from just being a really random person who likes to share things. I’ll only be “throwing back” to past week’s videos or other internetty things I’ve stumbled across in the past week. This week, there are only youtube videos.

Smile ~

First of all, a favourite video of mine is Sharla’s video. She is my favourite youtuber still and I’m just quite happy for her that she’s getting married. It just made me smile, because she’s so happy and I had some flashbacks to happy memories when my friend got married nearly two weeks ago.

There are two videos by Venus Angelic, which made me smile.

Chocolate Frogs! I love the chocolate Frogs from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and I will definitely try out to recreate mini chocolate frogs.

Something book related. This video amused me a lot more than I expected and it is SO MUCH FUN.

Japan ~

I am so happy I found Kristina’s Youtube channel. Especially this video about her experience in Japan is really important to me. As much as I want to experience Japan for myself, this particular video has shown me more of what I can expect through two first hand experiences.

Back to Sharla, she talks about Spring in Akihabara. So it nicely relates to the spring tag and the spring book tag I did 🙂

That is it for this week 🙂

Spring books

Inspired by the video above, I thought I’d look at the I love spring book tag. Instead of doing a video, I’m just gonna answer the questions here 🙂

1) How is spring where you live?
So I live on the south coast of England, about 45 minutes away from Brighton. I live right by the sea, which is a 5 minute walk from my house. It gets quite windy, but spring is usually quite nice here. Not too warm, not too cold with the usual unpredictable English weather. We seem to get quite lucky down here, avoiding most of the bad weather. Spring is one of my favourite seasons, especially with taking photos. I love going to the forest and photographing buds on trees and stuff. I love the smell of spring flowers. I used to love the smell of freshly cut grass, but now I’m allergic to it so it makes me sneeze and tear up, which is super annoying.

2) Most anticipated book release this spring?
Considering I still have SO MANY other books to get through, I really can’t afford buying any other books. One of the books that has come out recently is Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare. I’ve finally caved in and bought it already, but I haven’t started reading it yet. I’m really looking forward to The Crown by Kiera Cass, even though I’v still gotta read The Heir. I usually finish her books quite quickly (I’ve probably jinxed it now…), so hopefully I’ll get that done by the time this one is released. Otherwise I’m just going to focus on the books I have to read otherwise.

3) Show us a book cover that makes you think of spring
This book cover reminds me of spring, just because its green, and seems “fresh”.

2016-03-17 17.46.47

4) Where are you going to read this spring?
I’ll most likely be spending time reading in my room, or on the beach, depending on how warm it’ll be. Some of my time might be spent on the train whilst reading or at University. At University I will try and look for a spot in the sun to read, if it’s not all to busy.

5) Find a cover with the sun on it!
I found these two covers which have the sun on it. I was actually surprised to find them 🙂
2016-03-17 17.53.062016-03-17 17.53.00

6) What are your favourite spring reads?
I read a lot of dystopian books or fantasy books, so I guess I’m kinda going to stick with that. I usually avoid books by Anne Rice, just because I like to read those in autumn and winter. I can see myself finishing the books by Kiera Cass, and possibly rereading one of the Harry Potter books. I might even retry reading Lord of the Rings. Spring, to me, always comes with this new sense of adventure.

7) Find a book with many different colours on it.

These Harry Potter editions I find quite colourful. (You didn’t really expect me to not talk about Harry Potter?)

2016-03-17 18.13.42

I’m not going to tag anybody. If you haven’t done it yet, but would like to, do go ahead 😉

For a general update, the main book I’m currently reading is Nothing to Envy by Barbara Demick. I bought this book second hand from Amazon and still haven’t peeled that piece of left-over sticker off…2016-03-10 14.01.17

That is it for now. Have a lovely start to the week 🙂

Harry Potter studios #3

So I’ve finally looked through the pictures I took from my third trip to the Harry Potter studio tour.

I didn’t really take many photos, but I still had a lot of fun and I can’t wait to go again.

They still had the sorting hat, which was awesome.

They also had all the chocolaty things Hogwarts students would get for Easter, which I didn’t expect. So that was a nice surprise.

This is still my favourite feature of all times.

The Weasley’s burrow really feels cosy and like home.

Obviously, I had Butterbeer. My friend didn’t like it so I got to finish hers off too.

Seeing the castle at the end, I heard several people go “wow!”, including the friend I was with. I’ve seen it three times now, but it’s still so overwhelming.

What is your patronus?!

I thought about talking about music today, as I’m going to see 21 Pilots tomorrow. At the same time, I’m also going back to the Harry Potter Studios on Friday, and I’d rather talk about that today, than music. I’m also posting this today, as I wont be near a laptop or anything tomorrow.

For a bit of fun, I found a quiz on buzzfeed to find out what my patronus would be (x). The result I got was a swan, the same patronus as Cho Chang. The Note that came with my result was this:

“You’re quiet, but not anti-social. You’re always surrounded by a group of friends, and they act as a support system in times of emotional distress. Your Patronus takes the form of a swan, the same as Cho Chang. Keep enjoying the simple things in life and do your best to not dwell on the past; the future is bright.”

It’s actually really fitting. Both Cho and I are also Ravenclaw.

Which Hogwarts house will you be sorted into?

I did another (non-pottermore) house sorting quiz, and was sorted into Ravenclaw again.

Going through Harry Potter quizzes is quite entertaining and bizarrely calming. I’m incredibly nervous because of the 21 pilots concert, so talking about this is a really good thing for me. The colour blue calms me down and Harry Potter makes me happy.

Let me know what your patronus is and what house you’ve been sorted into.
