Blogmas Day 6: Nikolaus

Today: Nikolaus

So, when I grew up in Germany, we’d somewhat celebrate this tradition on 6 December, which is Nikolaus. The night before, kids would put a special shoe or boot outside their bedroom door and find chocolates, sweets and/or other gifts in it the next morning.

Out of memory, Nikolaus shared his personal items (such as cloak, horse, food, etc) with people he met on his journey. Otherwise I’m not really sure on the origins of tradition, but I remember the shoe/boot part and chocolate/sweets/gifts.

I spent all day reading for Uni, now I find out I miss a lecture which I could’ve attended and I feel salty n upset.

For my Nikolaus, I got some chocolate, a gift card and some lovely candles.

This is a quite nice video on Nikolaus.
