Pre Christmas/December Prep

I am super nervous because I have a peer lesson to do tomorrow. The later it gets the more nervous I am, and I just can’t wait until it’s over!

Anyway, apart from the usual hassle of University stuff, I’m quite looking forward to December and the Festive Season for various reasons I’ll probably (maybe, hopefully) will elaborate on over December.

I’ve done a great deal of christmas shopping already, my room has been somewhat festively decorated for a month now and I can’t wait for it to officially be December. Many of my favourite youtubers are doing Vlogmas, which I am really looking forward to. This is the first (and only) year where I am at University and we aren’t going on holiday to Asia. Last year we travelled to Vietnam, the year before that we went to Thailand. Instead, we have to wait until next June for our next family holiday. (It’ll be worth it.)

Back to the prep. I tried to be more prepared with posts but alas, I am not, but I am still going to try.

Poetry of the day

Enter the three Witches.

1 WITCH.  Thrice the brinded cat hath mew’d.
2 WITCH.  Thrice and once, the hedge-pig whin’d.
3 WITCH.  Harpier cries:—’tis time! ’tis time!
1 WITCH.  Round about the caldron go;
In the poison’d entrails throw.—
Toad, that under cold stone,
Days and nights has thirty-one;
Swelter’d venom sleeping got,
Boil thou first i’ the charmed pot!
ALL.  Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and caldron bubble.
2 WITCH.  Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Adder’s fork, and blind-worm’s sting,
Lizard’s leg, and owlet’s wing,—
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
ALL.  Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and caldron bubble.
3 WITCH.  Scale of dragon; tooth of wolf;
Witches’ mummy; maw and gulf
Of the ravin’d salt-sea shark;
Root of hemlock digg’d i the dark;
Liver of blaspheming Jew;
Gall of goat, and slips of yew
Sliver’d in the moon’s eclipse;
Nose of Turk, and Tartar’s lips;
Finger of birth-strangled babe
Ditch-deliver’d by a drab,—
Make the gruel thick and slab:
Add thereto a tiger’s chaudron,
For the ingrediants of our caldron.
ALL.  Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and caldron bubble.
2 WITCH.  Cool it with a baboon’s blood,
Then the charm is firm and good.

I have ADD/ADHD. I struggle with my concentration A LOT. I hyper focus (n then get distracted and hyper focus on minor activities when I actually need to get important shit done), don’t focus at all or only focus on activities for very short bursts. Yesterday, among some good stuff, I managed to watch four movies. Today, I didn’t finish watching anything. Not even an episode of something. I have done literally very little else. Everything I have done, has been enough to distract me  -.-

But I did get some important stuff done.(also, how normal is it to hallucinate sometimes?? its weird n i don’t like it)

Question of the day: What is the perfect weather?

I always like it when its warm enough to just wear a t-shirt. Today, the wind was quite cold, but the sun was nice and warm. Walking the dog in this weather was quite nice. I only like it when its rainy and cloudy if I don’t have to leave the house.

Boring old Sunday

I actually spent most of my day doing some academic reading and watching movies. My attention span managed to get through four movies. Usually I struggle massively to get through one. I did think about watching another one, but I had a feeling that might’ve been stretching it. Filling up on tea and I keep finding reasons to tidy up. How I get anything done, truly done, we’ll never know.

Question of the day: Sweets or chocolate?

I love chocolate. But I also love sweets. And I quite like crisps. I really miss egg sandwiches with crisps (I think it is time I treated myself to this again). I have a massive sweet tooth, which causes quite a few problems, but I limit myself to weekends 99% of the time. At the moment it seems to be working out quite well.

Phrase of the day: Aller Anfang ist schwer

This is actually a German proverb, meaning something along the lines of “Every Beginning is difficult.”
I quite like this proverb and have heard it several times growing up. This is especially said, for example, when you’re learning something new and are struggling with it.

Just the usual Saturday

Since the festive season has basically started, I thought I’d share something.

Your Holiday Mom is the thing I’d like to share. People on this site offer a virtual home to LGBTQ Youth during the holidays. Even I, who has a kind and caring and supportive home, tear up when I read these messages.

Nobody will actually do this, write to me and/or talk to me. But I am still going to offer my listening skills to everybody who has something to say. I have a lot of kindness to give, and would love to share this with everybody who would like it.

It’s not actually going to matter. I know nobody is actually going to message me. But it’s out there either way. I don’t know what else I could offer apart from myself and what I have.

Question of the day: How do I make a usual Saturday more interesting?

Do something spontaneous, or unusual. As the festive season is fast approaching, my spontaneous and unusual action for today is christmas shopping. Plus, I got a new Phone case which made things a little bit exciting. Also, I’m trying out some different music today. In moments of doubt where everything is same same, its time to mix things up a little bit. I always kid myself change had to be huge and grand, but really, it doesn’t. Change in the littlest routines can make things that little bit more exciting.

Freakishly average Friday

Busted’s new album is out!! I’ve been listening to it on Spotify and enjoying it in between getting up, going to Uni and walking the dog. We walked for over an hour today, leaving me with limited time to get ready and listening to it. But, I do have the entire weekend and all the rest of the time to soak it up -and learn the lyrics until Feb, when we go and see them in Brighton. Much excited to see them!

Looking back at today, I really enjoyed the walk this morning around Cuckmere River near Eastbourne, and catching up with a friend before a lecture.

Question of the day: Had any good Black Friday deals?

Nah. As much as I love a good deal, I’m too unorganised and just didn’t fancy scouting around for deals. Haha, what a short answer. I can’t think of much to say. Another Question: Am I looking forward to Christmas? Yes I am. Just a smidge.

Question: What to do when stuck in the house?

I actually spend an embarrassing amount of time in my room and have multiple ways to keep me busy. The internet is obviously an unlimited source of entertainment. I end up watching a lot of TV, playing PS3 games (or other games), or I can very easily get caught up on catching up on University work as well. A day at home is a great way to finally catch up on work or other important things I usually avoid doing. I even like spending some of the time cleaning out my desk, wardrobe or dresser and reorganising things. This, I find, is an especially nice task if it is very cold outside and/or raining. I then don’t feel so guilty about spending the time in my room or at home in general.

Monday Motivation

Question of the day: What do you remember from your first day of school?
I can’t actually remember much of my first day at school. Apparently I wasn’t too happy, and cried every morning for several weeks. There are photos however, and I was wearing a dress. I was in the Lion Cub class, and as I walked over the school playground, I was holding my friends’ hands. I was in the middle. Otherwise, I honestly don’t remember anything. I guess that’s a good thing? It wasn’t traumatic or anything haha. I can’t even remember my first day of secondary school or at college in Germany. I just about remember my first day at college in the UK, and at University. The most memorable moment I remember relating to my education is the day I found out I was going to go to University. over three years ago. But that is a story for another day!

I wish I could remember more. The photos look very cute. I remember every year when going back, I’d look forward to new stationary and telling everybody what I did over summer and listening to all of their stories. I’m not sure if this is a memory from the first day of school, but I know I loved Schultüten . You either made them yourself or bought them and then parents would fill them with sweets n chocolate and/or gifts and stationary, money and all that. It comes in different colours and sizes. And I remember loving mine. Kids are usually given them on their first day, so it is definitely a memory from my first day at school.

Word of the day:
I’d like to say “Motivation” but it’s basically the same, just the pronunciation differs. So I am going to go with something else.
I’ll go with Freude.
It’s a noun, and translates to joy, delight, gratification.
It can be used as such: “Es  würde mir eine große Freude bereiten, dir zu helfen”; which translates to “It would be a joy to help you out”.

Quote of the day

When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be
– Lao Tsu

Today I went to see Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them again. I just really like the music, the way Eddie Redmayne looks and Niffler and the magic. It’s very entertaining and I can’t wait for the other movies. I don’t know why I leave writing so late. I am tired and to be honest, not much exciting has happened today.

The Harry Potter Tag

Inspired by this video, I shall be doing the Harry Potter Tag!

I tried to write out the questions as they appeared in the video, and I have the feeling I missed out a question… Anyhow, lets go.

What is your favourite book?
Harry Potter and the philosophers stone

What is your favourite movie?
Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban

What is your least favourite book?
Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix purely because it took me forever to read.

What is your least favourite movie?
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, purely because I disliked the look of Harry Potter at the beginning of the movie? It’s childish I know but thats the only reason I could spontaneously think off!

What is your Favourite Quote?
“Now if you two don’t mind, I’m going to bed before either of you come up with another clever idea to get us killed – or worse, expelled.” -Hermione Granger

Who is your Favourite Weasley?
Molly Weasley or Ginny Weasley

Who is your favourite (female)character?
One of my most favourite characters is Remus Lupin.

Who is your favourite villain?
Bellatrix. The most obvious answer, but she’s awesome as a villain.

Who is your favourite (male) character?
Another favourite character is Luna Lovegood. And I really love Hermione Granger.

Favourite Professor?
Professor McGonagall, right next to Professor Lupin.

Is there a character you felt differently about in the movies?
Ginny Weasley.

If you could remake any of the movies, which one would it be?
Order of the Phoenix I think, just to include Hermiones’ stand for the House Elves. And any movie after that to include more of Remus/Tonks. And possibly the third one so we can get more info on the Marauders and their importance to the story line?

Which House was your first gut feeling you’d be a part of?
I always wanted to be Griffindor, because of Hermione, but my gut feeling was that it might be Hufflepuff. Turns out I’m a proud Ravenclaw. Blue is also my favourite colour, and I automatically kinda wear it a lot.

Which class would be your favourite?
All of them, honestly. How could I choose just one?? I think I’d love Astronomy, History of Magic, Transfiguration and Study of Ancient Runes.

Which spell do you think is most useful?
Most of them, really. I really love Lumos, to, like, read in bed and stuff.

Which character do you think you’d instantly become friends with?
Luna Lovegood. I’d attach myself to Ginny, too, and Hermione. And Cho Chang.

If you could own one of the three hallows, which one would it be?
The Invisibility Cloak.

Is there any aspects of the books you’d want to change?
I’d love if Ron (+the other Weasleys) swore a lot more. I’d love to have more of a colourful language coming from them, or just more swearing in general, from everybody.

Hallows or Horcruxes?
Both? Both. Definitely both.

Yesterday, I went to see Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them with two friends of mine and I thought it was real good n I can’t wait for the other movies!

Some more videos -Potter related, naturally.
